Opening Reception:

Home is universal and home is deeply personal; family can be anyone, and family is specifically someone. When written and spoken language cannot express the scope of what home and family mean, we might find a more accurate feeling in a photograph of a kitchen table mid-meal, or a portrait of a loved one. The exhibition Reencuentros: Seeing You Again presents eight contemporary photographers whose works delve into the ubiquitous and intimate nature of family and home.
The exhibition's title translates as reencounter. In the context of the works on view, that reencounter may be with people, place, feeling, or memory shaped by home, family, or domesticity. Through their discrete photographic practices and autobiographical approaches, the artists featured in Reencuentros: Seeing You Again present works that are part homage and part exploration of how home and family blur the boundaries between present and future.
The exhibition features works by Valentina Aproda Maurer, Jamil Baldwin, Iris Huerta, Gabriel Gonzalez, Julie Leopo, Rodrigo Morales, Alkaid Ramirez, and Sadie Scott. The exhibition is curated by William Camargo, a photo-based artist, educator, and arts advocate born and raised in Anaheim, California, and founder of Latinx Diaspora Archives.
