Born in China and raised in Hong Kong, Chiu holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Chu Hai College of Higher Education and a second B.A. in Photojournalism from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). With a career spanning Asia and now based in Los Angeles, he freelances for prestigious outlets like Los Angeles Times, AP, AFP, Reuters, and Getty Images.
Chiu's notable achievements include NPPA's 2021 Best of Photojournalism, PPAGLA's 2019 and 2021 Photojournalist of the Year, and multiple awards from the Los Angeles Press Club. His impactful work extends to international recognition, such as Canada's Photojournalism Photography Award in 2007 and Best Hong Kong News Photography in 1992-1994.
