Member of the Month March 2021 Reed Saxon
“Reed is largely responsible for my career at the AP which you can either credit or blame him for. He has mentored me since I was a stringer at the age of 16 in 1982. Reed and I met at the scene of an accident where a truck had driven off of an overpass on Highland near the 101. Even though it was a hectic situation, and in an industry where many photographers tend to be aloof and keep things close to their vest, Reed was kind enough to introduce himself and give me advice which I have come to learn was not unusual for him. Thus began many years of mentoring and friendship.
I always called Reed “The Ultimate Boy Scout” because he was a guy that, while the rest of us would often carry the minimum that we needed to get the job done, he would always be prepared for any eventuality. It is one of his features that I have always found admirable and aggravating at the same time. (-;”
